Our Purpose

As a volunteer, nonprofit 501c3 organization, our purpose is to attract financial contributions to be used to provide financial support for Donegal Athletics. DAC is a private, independent organization having no legal ties with Donegal School District.

  • Meet the Coaches: Jessica Shellenberger, Field Hockey Coach +

    When Jessica Shellenberger graduated from Warwick High School in Lititz, PA in 1999, she had been named the high school’s very first All American field hockey player—which helped her earn a full-ride athletic scholarship to the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, Shellenberger was an All Big Ten selection, an All American and, in 2001, a national champion.

    After graduating from Michigan in 2004, Shellenberger joined the staff at Donegal as a Health and Physical Education teacher and as the varsity field hockey coach. Since then, she’s led the team to nine section titles, five District III titles and, in 2016, the PIAA state title.

  • Meet the Coaches: Trent Hoffmaster, Tennis Coach +

    When Trent Hoffmaster attended Donegal High School he was a three sport, varsity athlete—something that has served him well since returning to Donegal, first as a wrestling coach and now as the head coach of both the boys and girls tennis teams.

    The University of Pittsburgh graduate has been on staff at Donegal for the last 15 years as a seventh-grade social studies teacher, and, for the last 13 years, as an accomplished tennis coach.

    The support of Donegal Athletic Club members is making a real difference in the lives of Donegal student athletes. Thanks to the generosity of members, DAC has secured $1 million in pledges for the new athletic complex. So far, we've directed $694,000 to the school district.

  • Meet the Coaches: Chad Risberg, Head Football Coach +

    Chad Risberg graduated from Donegal High School in 1995, and, after attending Millersville University, he returned to the high school that he loves in 2001 as a biology teacher. The following year, Risberg also stepped into the assistant football coaching position, and he held both roles until this year. This year, Risberg is no longer the assistant coach, but the head football coach of the Donegal Indians – a role he’s spent the last 16 years preparing for.
