Donegal Wins State Field Hockey Title

Congratulations to the Donegal girls' field hockey team! The girls won the state championship in overtime in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Palmyra. The win earned Donegal its second state championship in three years.

The Indians also won their fifth consecutive District Three championship this year, a record.

The team was led by captain Mackenzie Allessie, who recently set a record as the nation’s most prolific high school field hockey goal scorer.

Allessie credits their success to the team's coach, Jessica Shellenberger. “It’s just amazing,” Allessie said, speaking to Lancaster Online, “to know we kept getting better throughout the years and kept growing because of Coach Shellenberger and her just pushing us and believing in us. To be here again was amazing and then to win it was even better.”
