Memorial Wall Recognizes Leaders in the Donegal Community

Each year, leaders in the Donegal community are recognized for their dedication through inclusion on the Donegal Memorial Monument. These individuals, who are selected by the Donegal Memorial Monument Committee, have made substantial contributions that have made a lasting, positive impact within the Donegal School District. This year, Donegal will honor Oliver C. Overlander II and John Weidman.

Meet the Coaches: Scott Summers, Girls Soccer Coach

Soccer has been a vital part of Scott Summers’ life for more than two decades. The Lancaster County native played soccer at Pequea Valley High School before graduating and accepting an athletic scholarship to play NCAA Division II collegiate soccer. Now, Summers is the head coach of the Donegal girls’ soccer program for both the high school and junior high. Read more to learn about his cocahing philosophy!

Meet the Coaches: Jessica Shellenberger, Field Hockey Coach

When Jessica Shellenberger graduated from Warwick High School in Lititz, PA in 1999, she had been named the high school’s very first All American field hockey player—which helped her earn a full-ride athletic scholarship to the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, Shellenberger was an All Big Ten selection, an All American and, in 2001, a national champion.

After graduating from Michigan in 2004, Shellenberger joined the staff at Donegal as a Health and Physical Education teacher and as the varsity field hockey coach. Since then, she’s led the team to nine section titles, five District III titles and, in 2016, the PIAA state title.
